Alibaba Launches U.S. Mobile Shopping Site (BABA, AAPL)

According to a report on Alizila (Alibaba’s news blog) Alibaba’s U.S. shopping website has gone mobile with apps available for iOS and Android.

The report went on to say that the apps would be available on Android phones, Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch.

The 11 Main apps have been optimized for each platform and offer shoppers an on-the-go option for browsing the website’s curated collection of specialty shops and boutiques.

Alibaba’s U.S. Mobile App Works With Apple Pay

The report went on to say that the new mobile sites will be configured to work with the ApplePay service. This seems to me like a huge strategic win for a company that just did 9 Billion in sales in a single day – of which over 30% were completed on a mobile device!  The mobile apps can be downloaded here.

Shares of Alibaba (BABA) opened the day at $119.30 – up nearly 1% on the day.

With the mobile interface displaying not only information, but videos much like a catalog, it is making mobile shopping that much more of a rich experience.  The shops are also organized by product category and include Home & Outdoor, Jewelry, Baby & kids among others.
